Journey to Vasudhara Falls: A Mythological and Natural Trek

High in the Himalayas of Uttarakhand is the Vasudhara Falls, a place where the grandeur of nature meets ancient legend. I was curious when I heard that it was a waterfall that touches only those who have pure hearts, so I had to see it for myself.

The trek starts at Mana Village, the Indian border village. From there, it has to be trekked on a 6-kilometer path to reach Vasudhara Falls. The trek passes through boulder-studded terrain with grand views of Alaknanda River and snow peaks.

At each step, the village sounds faded away and I was greeted by the winds' whispers and the distant sound of the waterfall.

Local custom holds that the waters of Vasudhara only touch those who have a pure heart, bestowing peace and prosperity upon them. I was standing before the 400-foot waterfall and felt a connection to the many pilgrims and trekkers who had stood before mine.

The mist and light around the falls create a magical scene. Every moment offers something new—a rainbow, sunlight dancing on water, or a bird soaring above. For anyone who loves photography, Vasudhara is a dream come true.

Best Time to Visit: May to June and September to October are days of clear skies and pleasant weather.

What to Bring: Good trekking shoes, water, snacks, light coat, and a camera.

Acclimatize: Spend a day at Badrinath or Mana to acclimatize yourself to the height.

Respect the Place: The location is holy; treat it well and show respect to the local culture.

Though the star is Vasudhara, there is more to the region:

-Badrinath Temple: A sacred temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu.

-Tapt Kund: Naturally occurring hot springs believed to have healing qualities.
